Itinerary for Expedition

The itinerary below is only one example of what we offer. Due to varying weather and ocean conditions, we'll have to make the final decision just the days before or even on the day of the tour.

Itinerary

On our expeditions we paddle partly on the open ocean. Hence, the expeditions are for experienced kayakers only. You should have an adequate experience in kayaking on open ocean and a good fitness level.

The itinerary below is an example of a 7 days expedition.

Aleipata with Nu’utele island, northeast coast and south coast of Upolu island: Wilderness, open ocean, remote villages...

Click on Northeast Coast Map to view a topographical map covering the first three days and Safata Map to view a similar map covering the last two days

Day 1: We start the tour at Aleipata and spend our first day exploring some of the offshore islands. We spend our first night at Namua Island Beach Fales. Topo-map

Day 2: We spend the morning on Namua island, relaxing, swimming, hiking or snorkelling. In the afternoon we paddle northwest to Tiavea village and spend the second night with a family in the village. Topo-map

Day 3: We paddle along the rugged northeast coast of Upolu to Saletele village; very scenic! We may land on some of the secluded beaches but that requires calm seas. We take up our kayaks either at Saletele or Falefa. Topo-map

We then travel overland to Vavau and spend our third night at Vavau Beach Resort.

Day 4: We paddle westwards from Vavau along the south coast to Tafatafa beach and spend the night in their beach fales.

Day 5: We land on Nu’usafee, an uninhabited atoll, have our lunch on the beach and then continue westwards along the rocky coast and finish at Tafitoala village. On our way we will land on Aganoa beach (black sand). We spend the fifth night in beach fales at Tafitoala.

Day 6: We continue westwards to Sa’anapu village and explore the mangrove conservation area. The sixth and last night of the expedition is spent at Virgin Cove Resort. Topo-map

Day 7: We discover the secluded beaches and a little offshore island west of Sa’anapu. The last day of our tour is a little shorter than the other days but most of you will appreciate that after 7 days in the kayak. Topo-map

The tour includes an overland transport, just so that you can get to the most interesting places.
